Haidara Biography

Haidara has music in her genes so it comes as no surprise that she is carving out a career in this field. Born to Senegalese and Grenadian parents; her father, a drummer played for the late Lovers Rock legend Louisa Mark. Through attending the local Pentecostal church she was introduced to gospel where she was part of the children's Gospel choir. During her early teens, she was fascinated with 80s power ballads from Bonnie Tyler and Jennifer Rush and the art of performance from Queen, The Eurythmics and Michael Jackson; and she found and fell in love with Classic Soul and artists such as Stevie Wonder and Anita Baker, after discovering her aunt's record collection. All these childhood sounds and experiences have helped create H, formerly H-Boogie's unique sound.

In the late 90's, H was in a vocal group with her older sisters Estelle and Khadi, their two cousins and a close friend; the group was called Swarae, playing on the family's shared surname. Soon after formation, Estelle left the group to later become UK's only and most successful international female Hip-Hop artist. The group continued for three years, writing and performing, before disbanding.

Haidara has lent her vocals and talent for writing top lines to artists within all genres. Get Far "The Radio," peaked at No.1 in a number of counties including the US Billboard Dance Chart. In 2007 she sung and wrote hit 'Love has Gone' by Dave Armstrong and Redoche and most recently H has collaborated with major Dance icon Molella on track"Everything" with Rudeejay and Matteo Sala; released in 2013 on Time Records. In the same year she collaborated with Marc Talein, to record a fresh, cool, edgy House record.

Her Pop, R&B, Soul and Gospel influences mean no matter how futuristic the machine funk on her records, she’s singing from the heart. “When I write it’s meaningful. It’s not just aimed at the dancefloor”.

H is a timeless, diverse artist, writer and performer. Her forthcoming debut EP will be out March 2014
